Welcome to the Town of Barre. Nestled deep within the Green Mountains of Central Vermont our small, but growing, community is home to approximately 7,600 residents. Officially chartered in 1781, the Town of Barre incorporates 5 separate villages and is known for its large granite quarries, panoramic mountain views, beautiful natural scenery, outstanding school, great residential neighborhoods, and many modern recreation facilities. As an integral part of the Barre-Montpelier urban area, our families enjoy all the conveniences of an urban area while residing in some of the state’s most pristine, rural environments.
