The University of Vermont combines faculty-student relationships most commonly found in a small liberal arts college with the resources of a major research institution. The university is home to 10,371 undergraduates, 1,516 graduate students, 460 medical students and 1,299 full- and part-time faculty. Located in Burlington, Vermont (perennially voted one of America’s most exciting small cities and less than one hour from Barre), UVM’s setting on the shores of Lake Champlain, between the Adirondack and the Green mountain ranges, inspires visitors and residents.

Saint Michael’s College

The Saint Michael’s College is a private, residential liberal arts Catholic college. The 440-acre (1.8 km2) campus is located in Colchester, Vermont (located 55 minutes from Barre). Saint Michael’s has 2,000 undergraduate students who come from 37 states and 13 countries. 80% of students are from outside Vermont. There are 150 faculty members, 94 percent with a Ph.D. or highest appropriate degree. The student-faculty ratio is 12:1. There are approximately 250 graduate students each term; over 90 percent are from Vermont.
