Professional Sports
Barre has a multitude of activities you, your friends and your family can watch and enjoy. Our local professional sports teams include the Mountaineers (baseball) and the Ravens (football). Barre also hosts professional stock car racing at the Thunder Road Speedbowl.
For our hockey fans, go see a game of Norwich University men’s hockey who won the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championship. The Norwich University women’s hockey team had a great season and also made it to the national championship setting a record for the most victories in a season at Norwich. Barre Historic Opera House
Founded in 1989 and beautifully constructed in granite, the historic Barre Opera House is central Vermont’s premier performing arts facility. This century-old theater is the cornerstone of history and culture for Barre, Vermont – granite center of the world. The Opera House hosts 70-100 events each year – from local theater and arts organizations to internationally renowned musicians and dancers, and is home to the Celebration Series, our performance series, which runs from September to May and features some of today’s finest performers.

Local Areas of Interest
Barre is within an hour’s drive of every large Vermont city, the New Hampshire and Canada borders, and dozens of other attractions. Barre is also very close to major collegiate athletic programs, including UVM and Norwich University. Also be sure to check out Barre’s Summer Concert Series.
